Cappuccino, pizza, gelati and some good looking waiters. Si Si. Leichhardt is so Italian. Norton Street is full of Italian cafes and restaurants and is always lively. There's also The Forum which is designed to resemble an Italian square.
Norton St also has plenty of bars, shops, health practitioners and beauty therapists. Along with latest releases, Palace Cinemas show a range of arthouse movies and hosts international film festivals. There are bookstores; including the long standing Berkelouw Books, home and giftware, an organic butcher, clothing, shoes and JB Hi Fi to name a few. You could easily spend a few hours here at a casual pace. And if you like the idea of fair trade, the Anglican church on the corner of Marion and Norton streets has a Fair Trade Fair every Saturday morning.
The architecture in Leichhardt ranges from Victorian single fronted brick homes to modern apartment blocks. Property prices here are not cheap. But this is a sought after suburb.
